Our Centre

White Angles

History

The Newsroom was TCA’s second climbing centre – after The Mothership in Bristol – and was the first bouldering specific centre in Glasgow. For a long time it was the UK’s biggest bouldering wall and it’s been going from strength to strength since it opened in November 2012, developing a friendly community of climbers of all shapes and sizes.

The centre takes its name from the building’s former use as a printworks for News International Newspapers.

The Newsroom is a dedicated bouldering centre. Visit The Prop Store if you are looking for roped climbing.

Location

We are at 124 Portman Street in the Kinning Park area of Glasgow, close to the city centre. Click the map icon in the footer to see the centre’s location in Google Maps.

Getting here

We’re just a few mins walk from Kinning Park Underground (or Shields Road, although there’s more traffic to cross coming that way). We have ample free on-street parking and bike parking available at the corner of the street. The centre is 1.4 miles from Glasgow’s Central Station and is situated near easy access to the M8, M77 and M74.

If it’s easier for you to get to NW Glasgow, then you should check out The Prop Store, in Maryhill.

PART OF THE TCA FAMILY

Once you have completed forms to climb at The Newsroom, you will be able to climb at other TCA centres – as long as you have completed the appropriate forms for bouldering or roped climbing. A TCA pass will give you access to all 5 centres.
