Photography at TCA
If you would like to take images in any TCA centre, please direct your request to marketing. If you would like to film at a TCA centre, please tell us more about your project using this filming request form.
Consent
If you would prefer for you or your child not to be photographed, please tell a member of staff at reception and they will ensure that the photographer is made aware of this. Where visible opt-out wristbands are available they will also be offered. Consent of a parent/guardian will be sought before we store and distribute images of those under 16. TCA has strong safe-guarding protocols in place to ensure that our centres are safe spaces to visit. We take care with use of imagery and are responsive to feedback.
Right to removal
You can change your mind at any time and request deletion from our library. Just email marketing with a picture or screen grab of any pertinent images. Images in digital format can be removed from our library once identified and anything used in print will be phased out at the earliest convenient moment.
Photography: Working at Height
Any photographer (internal or external) wishing to take photos from fixed lines, a top-rope, or top-out boulders must follow these rules:
1. Management Approval
All photography at height must be approved by both the Centre Manager and Marketing Manager.
2. Alternatives First
Only consider working at height if the desired images cannot be captured from safer, elevated alternatives (e.g. viewing galleries or abseil ledges at The Church, The Mothership, or The Prop Store).
3. Qualifications and Training
- Fixed lines: Photographers must hold relevant working-at-height qualifications (with insurance if external) or have completed appropriate training from a competent person. Qualifications include: Workforce Advanced Setter Sign off and/or RSD Roped Setter L1/RSA2.
- Top-ropes: You must be a signed off roped climber (with insurance if external).
- Top-out boulders: Photographers must have training specific to photographing from this area from a TCA Manager.
- Proof of qualifications or training must be provided to the Centre Manager and Marketing Manager.
4. Supervision and Safety
- Fixed lines: A route setter rescue-trained staff member must be present on-site.
- Top-ropes: Must be belayed by a TCA staff member or registered rope user.
- Security: All equipment must be securely attached.
5. Timing Restrictions
Photography at height must not take place during peak visitor times. Specific times must be agreed in advance with the Centre Manager.
Please email marketing if you have any questions.
