Looking to expand your climbing circle? Whether you’ve just finished your induction or you’ve been bouldering at The Newsroom for years, our Open Social is the place to be.
Inspired by our popular Queer and Women’s socials, this session is designed for everyone. If you’re looking for new friends, fresh beta, or just a group to fall off projects with, come join the fun.
The Essentials

Booking: No booking required! Just check in at reception.

What to Expect
This isn’t a coached course or a formal lesson—it’s a community hang-out. We’ll have a TCA Instructor on hand to facilitate the session, help break the ice, and get people introduced.

Low Pressure: No formal training or drills. Just climbing and chatting.

The “Social” Beta: Our facilitator will help coordinate groups so no one is left climbing solo (unless they want to!).

All Abilities: Whether you’re working the purples or the whites, you’re welcome here.
How to Join

Check-In: Arrive at The Newsroom and let the desk staff know you’re here for the Open Social.

Get Geared Up: If you don’t have your own, grab your free rental shoes.

Meet the Group: Look for our instructor in the cafe area!

Climb On: Spend the evening working problems, sharing tips, and meeting the local TCA community.
Note: If it’s your first time at a TCA centre, please make sure you’ve registered online before you arrive to maximize your climbing time! You’ll also get your 2nd visit free!
