History of The Arc
In 2020 construction work started on The Arc. We expect to open in Spring 2022. This new climbing centre and skate park is being built by Chippenham Borough Lands charity and will be operated by TCA. We ran a competition to name the centre which was won by a local Chippenham resident. This will be TCA’s first climbing centre in an entirely purpose-built building.
Chippenham is approximately 30 miles East of Bristol. The Arc will be set in an open green space alongside the River Avon, The Arc is a pivotal element in the newly developed community parkland and activity centre in Westmead, which includes the climbing centre, skate park and a woodland sculpture trail.
The skate park
Access to the skatepark will be free but controlled. Due to planning agreements, it will not be open after 8pm. We’ll have more information closer to opening.
We encourage our climbers to arrive via public transport, bike or on foot where possible. We are situated in the Westmead playing fields, half a mile from Chippenham Railway Station. There is a car park at the top of Westmead Lane, which is free after 6pm and some free on-street parking nearby. Please note that the small car park attached to the site will be for staff or pre-arranged visitors only. There will be bike parking, including a charge point for electric bikes.
Part of the TCA family
Once you have completed forms to climb at The Arc, you will be able to climb at other TCA centres – as long as you have completed the appropriate forms for bouldering or roped climbing. Once The Arc opens, a TCA pass will give you access to all 5 centres.
