History of The Arc

The Arc is a climbing centre and skatepark with a cafe in Chippenham. It opened in 2022 and since then has grown to include a kids play park. It was built by Chippenham Borough Lands charity. The climbing centre is operated by TCA. We ran a competition to name the centre which was won by a local Chippenham resident. This is TCA’s first climbing centre in an entirely purpose-built building.

Location

Chippenham is approximately 30 miles East of Bristol. The Arc is set in an open green space alongside the River Avon. It is a pivotal element in the newly developed community parkland and activity centre in the Westmead Playing Fields, which includes the climbing centre, skatepark, kids play park and a woodland sculpture trail.

The skatepark

The skatepark is a free unsupervised facility. Users skate there at their own risk. Find out more about the skatepark here and see local signs for complete rules of use.

Getting here

We are situated in the Westmead playing fields, only half a mile from Chippenham Railway Station. We encourage visitors to arrive via public transport, bike or on foot where possible. There is paid parking adjacent to the centre, additional parking within walking distance on Wood Lane or Gladstone Road and limited on-street parking nearby. Due to Wiltshire Council planning permission, the small car park attached to the site is for disabled visitors, staff or pre-arranged groups only. There is ample bike parking.

Make parking easy set up RingGo app to save time before you visit.

Part of the TCA family

Once you have completed forms to climb at The Arc, you will be able to climb at other TCA centres – as long as you have completed the appropriate forms for bouldering or roped climbing. A TCA pass will give you access to all 5 centres. Find out more about prices or read our FAQs about The Arc.
