Learn to Lead

Our Learn to Lead course is for confident top-rope climbers ready to take the next step. With expert guidance from our experienced instructors, you’ll gain the skills to climb independently on our ever-changing range of lead routes.

Course format

• Small group setting (2-4 adults) for plenty of instructor support.
• Two-session course – You must be able to attend both parts.
• Comprehensive training in rope management, lead belaying, clipping techniques, and fall dynamics.
• Equipment guidance – Learn about ropes, belay devices, and best gear choices.

At The Arc we also offer a Straight to Lead (weekend) course for those who are keen to progress more quickly.

Lead Climbing Refresher

This is for competent lead climbers returning after a break who want to refresh their belaying and knot-tying skills. To enquire about booking, email arcbookings@theclimbingacademy.com – ideally with at least a month’s notice. Participants must be aged 18 or over and due to the nature of roped climbing, bookings can only be taken in pairs. After the session, your instructor may recommend further training if needed.
