Yoga for climbers
Improve your mobility and recovery with a session designed specifically for our community. Led by Wale (@alafiayoga), these classes focus on the functional movement and flexibility needed to move better on the wall.
The Session: Wale leads a modified version of Ashtanga yoga, a traditional practice where postures are linked together in a specific sequence called the Primary Series. This led class adapts those movements to be more specific to climbing, focusing on the breath, movement and alignment which will aid your climbing.
- When: Every Thursday, 6-7pm (starting from 5 March)
- Where: The Mothership
- Price: £10 per session
- Kit: Bring your own mat if you have one, otherwise you can borrow ours for free.
All levels are welcome. Join us to move, breathe, and build a more resilient body for your sessions.
Why Yoga?
Yoga can boost your flexibility, strength, balance, and recovery. By refining your breath control and mental focus, you can improve your movement on the wall and help keep injuries at bay.

Meet Wale
Wale has been a fixture of the Bristol scene for years, having started climbing at The Church in 1996 (some of you might even remember his yoga sessions on the old mezzanine!).
With over 40 years in the yoga world and 25 years of teaching experience, Wale brings a massive amount of knowledge to the mat. His background includes Iyengar Yoga, which focuses on precision and alignment, and Ashtanga, which emphasises breath and movement. He combines these elements to help climbers move with more intent and ease.
We’re chuffed to have his expertise at The Mothership.
