Looking for a fun, active way to spend time together as a family? Whether you’re introducing your kids to climbing for the first time or looking for a new weekend adventure, The Climbing Academy has you covered. From spontaneous drop-ins to structured term-time sessions and exciting school holiday activities, there’s something for every age and ability.

Drop-in Family Climbing

Sometimes, the best days out are the ones you don’t over-plan. Our family-friendly drop-in climbing sessions make it easy to just turn up and climb! No bookings, no pressure—just show up, get stuck in, and enjoy climbing at your own pace. We provide all the gear and guidance to help your kids (and you!) get started safely and confidently. For roped climbing at The Church in Bristol, The Arc in Chippenham and The Prop Store in Glasgow, the supervising adult will need to be a competent roped climber. Don’t worry if you’re not, you can still visit these centres and get a free auto belay induction from a manager.

You don’t need to do a course to start bouldering, but if you would prefer a guided first visit with a member of our team, you can book a Bouldering Induction at The Mothership in Bristol and The Newsroom in Glasgow

Taster Sessions – Try It Out, No Strings Attached

Not sure if climbing is your thing? Our Family Taster Sessions are the perfect way to find out. These short, friendly introductions to climbing are low-pressure and loads of fun. You’ll get to try climbing in a supportive environment with expert guidance—and we promise, no one’s judging your technique! Available at The Church, The Arc and The Prop Store. Check out our beginners section to see a variety of options including tasters at selected venues.

Term-Time Climbing – Build Skills & Confidence

Our term-time climbing courses are designed to help kids progress in their climbing, stay active, and build confidence week by week. Whether your child is totally new to the sport or already scrambling up walls like a pro, our instructors tailor sessions to their level and goals. Sessions are available at all centres. Just choose your location below and visit the youth section to find the right course for your kid.

Holiday Sessions – Keep Kids Active

School’s out, and that means more time to explore, play, and learn new skills. Our Holiday Climbing Sessions are perfect for keeping kids active during the school breaks. These instructor-led sessions are packed with fun games, climbing challenges, and confidence-building—great for both beginners and regular climbers. Visit your nearest centre to view holiday climbing activities for ‘Youth’

Highlights:

• Bookable sessions for kids during easter, mid-term and summer.

• Supervised by qualified instructors

• All equipment included

Birthday Parties at TCA – Climb, Celebrate, Repeat!

Looking for a birthday party with a difference? Our kids’ climbing parties are an unforgettable way to celebrate. Your child and their friends will get to climb, play, and laugh their way through a fully supervised climbing session, with all equipment provided.

What’s included:

• An instructor-led day of climbing fun

• All gear provided

• Party room access available at select venues

• Suitable for ages 5+

Let us take care of the action while you sit back and enjoy the smiles (and cake!). Birthday parties are available at all locations except The Mothership in Bristol.

If you’re looking for a full day out with the family, The Arc in Chippenham is the perfect destination. It’s not just a climbing centre—it’s a hub for adventure and outdoor fun.
