Courses at The Church

Improve your skills with our specialist courses – restarting in September 2020.

Since reopening The Church has been quiet enough for us to reinstate a number of our adult (18+) courses. This does not yet mean everything will be back up and running, but we’re pleased to be able to get back to teaching you the sport we love!

Adult beginners course

Skill: Top-roping
Indoor
No experience necessary
£55 pp (includes £10 registration fee and 1 month’s free equipment hire)

Our Adult Beginners course is run as 2 x 2 hour sessions on a Tue/Thu. The courses will be running every two weeks from Tue 1 September. For an additional £15 top-up at the time of booking, you can get a month of unlimited climbing. Booking and more info

Fast-track adult beginner course

Skill: Top-roping
Indoor
No experience necessary

Learn to top-rope in one weekend. Taught in 2 x 2 hour sessions on consecutive Sat and Sun. Courses start on 19 September. For an additional £15 top-up at the time of booking, you can get a month of unlimited climbing. Booking and more info

Fast-track beginner straight to lead course

Skill: Lead climbing
Indoor
No rope experience necessary
£75 pp

Learn to lead climb in an intensive 7-hour course, split over consecutive Sat and Sun. Although this course assumes no previous roped climbing experience, it is physically very demanding and is only suited to those who regularly exercise and have a good level of fitness. It is ideally suited to those who are competent boulderers. Courses start on 12 September (although the first session is already full).  They will run every other weekend, not including school holiday weekends. For an additional £15 top-up at the time of booking, you can get a month of unlimited climbing. Booking and more info

Keeping you COVID-safe – book in pairs

All of the above courses must now be booked in pairs (no individual bookings taken due to COVID procedures). We have reduced class sizes to a maximum of 4 participants.

Intro to sport climbing course

Skill: Lead climbing
Outdoor
For competent indoor lead climbers (or novice outdoor lead climbers)
£130 pp

Fri 4 – Sat 5 September only. Open up a world of single-pitch outdoor sport climbs with our 2 part outdoor course. This starts with a Friday evening intro at The Church 7-9pm before a day out on real rock at Wyndcliff Quarry (9am-4pm). Learn skills and gain the confidence to spread your climbing wings. What has 4 months of disruption done to your climbing? You can book a socially distanced one-on-one Lattice Assessment now to assess your strengths and weaknesses at The Mothership. This will help you to develop a safe and strategic training plan to improve your climbing.
