Reaction to announcement

A response from TCA’s management to the government’s coronavirus announcement on Tue 23 June 2020:

Hi everyone,

We were, like you, I imagine, bitterly disappointed yesterday by Boris Johnson’s announcement.

We are aware that there is pressure now for the indoor climbing walls to be able to reopen in mid-July.  The Culture Minister has said this and our contacts are telling us to expect it.

Let’s hope this time it happens.

In Scotland, the reopening is a bit more structured than in England.  Indoor climbing is currently submitting guidelines to Sport Scotland who will discuss them with the Scottish Government.  We will definitely be in Phase 3 in Scotland and it looks likely that we will be in Phase 3B.  There is no defined time for that but we expect it to be a week or two behind England.  Keep listening to Nicola Sturgeon.

We have been working for some weeks on measures that will make our centres as safe as possible but will keep them feeling like the TCA we know that you value.  We will be releasing this information imminently, so keep an eye on your emails, TCA Life or social media channels.

In the meantime, enjoy a pint and a haircut (if you’re in England)! If you’re in Scotland good luck with home haircuts for the time being.

We look forward to seeing you in about a month.

THANK YOU

TCA has been working hard to keep the business alive throughout lockdown to protect jobs and to protect our centres which play a vital role in your fitness and wellbeing. Thank you to everyone who has kept their membership rolling throughout lock-down. This has been helping us to pay our ongoing overheads. If you would like to unfreeze your membership now, you can request this via My TCA. When we reopen we will be encouraging contactless payments and ideally purchasing online before you visit. You can buy punch cards (for 5 or 10 visits) and passes online. See more ways to help.
