Focus on mental health and climbing

Throughout Jan-Feb we are focussing on mental health and climbing. We’ll be looking at the benefits of sport on mental wellbeing and examining the negative self-talk that holds climbers back from making progress.

Help during a stressful time

January is always a tough time, but with national lockdowns after nearly a year of coronavirus, we need support more than ever. The internet is teeming with good advice, videos and books. If you are really suffering right now, you are not alone. If you need to talk to someone, you can call:

NHS 24 Mental Health Hub on 111

24 hours a day, 365 days a year

Breathing Space on 0800 83 85 87

Weekdays: Monday – Thursday 6pm to 2am
Weekend: Friday 6pm – Monday 6am

Samaritans on 116 123

24 hours a day, 365 days a year

Mental health and climbing

Over the coming weeks we will be sharing research from Bristol University, links to useful resources, personal stories and hosting our first online events – all of which will be free, but bookable. You can book now for the events below. We hope that this will provide a nice chance for our community to come together to seek advice and get inspiration that will set you in good stead for getting back to climbing when restrictions ease.
