The Climbing Academy Glasgow Open Day – FREE Climbing and Inductions

This December, The Climbing Academy (TCA) is throwing open its doors for some FREE Open Days! If you’ve ever wanted to try climbing, this is your perfect chance to get involved with no cost attached – suitable for adults on their own or families with kids. This offer is available at The Newsroom in Kinning Park and The Prop Store in Maryhill for new customers to TCA only. We operate an adult to child ratio of 1:2 which will need to be observed at all times so please take this into consideration when attending.

What’s Happening?

We’re giving new climbers the chance to come down to TCA and give climbing a try, absolutely free (including shoe hire)! Whether you prefer to dive straight in or get a structured introduction, we have options for everyone.

1. Just Walk In!

For those who are ready to hit the mats straight away, you can head down independently and have a go at bouldering yourself!

• How it works: All you need to do is fill out a simple registration form before you arrive.
• Safety First: Your first entry includes a full safety briefing, starting with a safety video at the beginning of the form process. Once you’re briefed, you’re good to go!

2. FREE Bouldering Inductions

If you’d like a more guided experience to learn the basics of climbing you can get a tour of the centre before you start and a member of staff will take you through a 30 min induction. No booking required. Just show up and our friendly staff will get you sorted with an induction.

3. Extra Perk at The Prop Store

🚨 Attending The Prop Store in Maryhill? You’ll also get a FREE auto-belay induction! This means you can give our roped area a shot using the safety of our automatic belay devices.

4. FREE Mince Pie and warm cuppa

After your session, sit back and relax in our cafe and enjoy a hot drink (Tea or Americano) and mince pie on us! The perfect way to soak in your experience and reminisce on all the fun you’ve had.

5. Special offer on the day

You’ll also get the added bonus of a one-time deal where you can pay for your next 2 entries for just £10. To take advantage of this and claim your 2 visits, just ask a staff member on the day to process this for you.

An important winter heads-up

Our centres are big warehouse spaces, so it can feel as cold inside as out when you first arrive. Come in warm, comfy layers and bring a beanie if you have one. You’ll warm up once you get climbing but planning to start in a T-shirt would be a chilly shock.

Notes on Roped Climbing
Please remember that auto-belays are a great introduction, but if you want to try full, independent roped climbing (where you belay a partner):
You must complete a competency test and be able to belay and climb on ropes independently.
