Urban Uprising “Dumby” Clean up

Dumbarton Rock is one of the closest climbing venues to Glasgow and holds historic status, not just with Historic Environment Scotland (who look after Dumbarton Castle – well worth a visit!) but also in the hearts of climbers.

Dumby boasts sport, trad and bouldering crammed into one small patch of west facing land overlooking the Clyde.

It has become an annual tradition for Glasgow climbers to descend en masse to give the crag a good clean, removing any litter, broken glass and general mess so that the area is safe for all visitors. This year, the clean up has been organised to spread awareness of World Earth Day and raise funds for Urban Uprising, a climbing charity that gives young disadvantaged children an opportunity to transform their future through climbing.

We need your help on Sun 28 April. We are meeting at 11am at the crag and we’ll be down until 4pm. TCA will bring the cleaning equipment and will provide free snacks/hot drinks for a small donation to Urban Uprising. Anyone who attends, provides a small donation, and puts their name down will get put into a raffle for a chance to win a prize from TCA. It’s always great craic and weather permitting there will, of course, be time for a climb.

If you’ve never been to Dumby before, this is a great opportunity to get to know the venue with some TCA regulars. Trains run to Dumbarton and the crag is only half a mile from Dumbarton East, so easily walkable.

See you there!
