We have lift off! The expanded Mothership opens

This is it, the moment you have all been waiting for – The Mothership expansion will be opening its doors to customers for the very first time next at 5pm on Thu 24 October! Set your alarms, tell your friends and get ready for a whole new level.

The new walls effectively double the amount of climbing space offered at TCA’s original centre in Bristol. Featuring not 1 but 2 stand-alone top-out boulders and extensive new angles, the centre will maintain the highest standard of setting that TCA is renowned for. The team have been hard at work to get things ship-shape and of course, setting a top range of problems for the first round of the Winter Series.

Comp format

Round 1 of our Winter Series will kick off from 5pm. It will feature 25 qualifying problems spread across both levels of The Mothership. The competition is, as always open to all. It can be as serious or a fun as you want it to be. Just come along, give the new problems a go and make sure you add your score into an iPad by 9pm.

Scoring

Scoring is simple, track your own progress on a sheet using the scoring system below:

Pulling on – 1 point
Bonus 1 – 3 points
Bonus 2 – 3 points
Top or top out – 3 points
Flash (AKA you did it first attempt) – 1 point

To get bonus points, you must reach the bonus hold in control. Just touching it does not count.

Finals

For the very first time, our finals will be held upstairs on our brand new comp wall. The top 3 male and top 3 female competitors will go through to the final and compete in front of an audience. We hope to have beers and a DJ, but either way, we’ll have great tunes and no doubt an unbeatable atmosphere.

Prizes

Our fantastic comp partner, Ellis Brigham have provided a whopping £400 of vouchers as prizes for each round of the competition – so it’s well worth taking part – and there is £100 in cash split between the winners.
