Big news for Bristol climbers

We have some important news to share with our community.

A change of plan

Earlier this year, we announced our intention to sell our two Bristol centres – The Mothership and The Church – to local climbing operator Flashpoint. While discussions were positive and collaborative, the sale will not be going ahead, as a shared agreement could not be reached.

TCA and Flashpoint will remain friendly rivals – both owned and operated by local climbers – giving Bristol climbers excellent opportunities throughout the city.

This wasn’t the outcome we initially expected – but we’re genuinely pleased that TCA will continue its journey in the city where it started.

Thank you to all our supporters

We know this has been a period of uncertainty, and we want to thank you all for your patience and support. To those who reached out with kind words, and those who picked up merch to mark the end of an era – thank you. We’re touched by how much these centres mean to you, and we hope it feels good to know that our story isn’t over.

While some of the broader challenges we face as an independent operator haven’t gone away, we’ve taken time to regroup and prepare. We’re ready to face those challenges head-on and stay focused on long-term success.

Building a successful future

Our attention is now on building for the future: investing in our staff, delivering great climbing experiences across all TCA centres, and continuing to be a welcoming space for everyone who walks through our doors.

Thank you for sticking with us – whether you’ve been climbing here for 17 years or just joined last week.

We’re staying. And we’re so glad you’re with us.

With gratitude,
Team TCA
