TCA Bristol bouldering comps

The 25-26 bouldering comps will be operating slightly differently at The Mothership. There will be 2 public comps, including a fun Halloween event and a student comp series. The student comp will run across four rounds, each open for several days. Students can take part anytime within each round’s window.

STUDENT WINTER COMP SERIES

Think your uni has the strongest climbers in the southwest? Time to prove it – our new 4-round winter bouldering comp is here.

Round 1: Thu 16 – Sun 19 October
Round 2: Thu 27 – Sun 30 November
Round 3: Thu 12 – Sun 15 February
Round 4: Thu 26 – Sun 29 March

Format

• 2 hours to climb as many as you can (redpoint format – i.e. as many goes as it takes)
• Cost = your usual wall entry (or pass) + £5 comp fee
• Book online to guarantee your spot (but drop-ins welcome)

COMMUNITY COMPS

Get the following dates in your diary for 2025 and early 2026. Our community comps are open to all, from absolute beginners who want to try something new to the seasoned comp climbers. We’ll have something to challenge all levels and importantly – plenty of fun. Entry is £3 on top of standard entry. If you are a pass or punch card holder, it’s just £3.

There will be prizes for overall winners as well as raffle prizes for all entrants. So it’s worth giving them a go, even if you don’t expect to win. You might walk home with some excellent goodies. 

Halloween Fun Comp

Sat 1 November, 12-7pm

Get ready for a spooktacular night of climbing with 15 freshly set comp problems, including silly challenges, Halloween-themed café treats and plenty of laughs along the way. Fancy dress is encouraged but optional. It’s the perfect mix of climbing, community and costume chaos, whether you’re chasing points, showing off your outfit or just here for the treats.

Spring Comp and Evening Finals

Sat 18 April, 12-7pm

In April we’ll have a normal comp with a big qualifying round (25 brand new problems) and the always entertaining evening finals – where you get to marvel at the very best climbers doing their thing! You are welcome to come and spectate, even if you’re not climbing.
