New East and South East Asian Social in Bristol

We are thrilled to announce that we’ll be hosting a new monthly ESEA (East and Southeast Asian) Social at The Mothership!

Whether you are a seasoned climber or have never touched a climbing wall in your life, this social is created for you.

Finding Community on the Wall

East South-east Asian (ESEA) Outdoors is a national grassroots community dedicated to celebrating ESEA representation in the UK outdoors and fighting racism.

We know that walking into a climbing gym can sometimes feel intimidating, which is why representation matters. These meet-ups are open to anyone of East and Southeast Asian heritage. The goal isn’t just to exercise; it’s to create a space for fun, community, and a true sense of belonging.

Why Bouldering?

Bouldering is a fantastic social sport. Because you climb without ropes on shorter walls (with big crash mats underneath!), it’s easy to chat, cheer each other on, and work out “problems”  together. Bouldering climbs are known as problems.

No Experience? No Problem.

One of the most common questions we get is, “Do I need to know how to climb?”

The answer is no! You do not need any prior experience. Each session is hosted by our own community members who are there to welcome you, show you the ropes (or in this case, the bouldering walls), and make sure you have a great time.

Join Us

We meet once a month. To get the specific dates, chat with other members, and sign up for the next session, we use Heylo. It’s the best way to stay connected with the group between climbs.

Come along to get active, make friends and be part of a welcoming community.
