So, you will have probably heard that news we were all expecting has landed. TCA Glasgow will have to shut its doors on Friday 20 November for a period of 3 weeks. While not as strict as the last lockdown, this will have an impact on our business. So what does this mean for TCA and our climbers?
Both TCA Glasgow centres – The Newsroom and The Prop Store – will be closing from 6pm on Friday 20 November until, we think, 12 December. We’ll share more details about reopening closer to the time.
If you have a pre-paid membership, your membership will be frozen. This essentially means that you will not be charged for the period we are closed.
If you would like to support TCA and continue to pay for membership during November, please send an “Unfreeze my membership” request via My TCA.
If you have any specific questions about your membership or if you would like to change your details, please contact us via My TCA.
If you have made a booking that is due to happen in November and December, we will be issuing refunds. You will be contacted directly about this. You may also email email@example.com.
For many of you, we know that climbing has provided a lifeline for both physical and mental health. Although hopefully not as long as the last lockdown, this one will have much less light as winter takes hold. We would encourage our community to make an effort to stay active during this time.
The government has asked those in affected areas to stay close to home and avoid travelling to other places. We have had specific requests from other climbing centres in non-locked-down areas asking our climbers to avoid travelling to their centres. Please respect this.
If 2020 gave us anything it’s plenty of home training advice online. Here are some home training ideas we gathered earlier in the year. If you would like to work on climbing fitness, we have a number of items in the TCA shop that may help. You can pick up fingerboards in person from the shop in The Newsroom (while stocks last), while smaller items like resistance bands and powerfingers can be ordered online from the TCA shop. All purchases help TCA during this period of enforced closure.
Help TCA and sort Christmas early
Climbing gift vouchers
If you were planning to buy TCA gift vouchers as Christmas presents, these can be redeemed on entry, courses and cafe purchases when we reopen. We plan to operate the online shop during closure, so TCA online shop purchases will still be possible. Buying gift vouchers now will help TCA during closure.
