English lockdown – centres closing

By now you will have heard the news of a second lockdown in England. While not a strict as the last lockdown, this will have an impact on our business. So what does this mean for TCA and our climbers?

TIMING

Both TCA Bristol centres – The Mothership and The Church – will be closing for a month starting at 10pm on Wed 4  November.  A longer lockdown has not been ruled out. We will keep you informed as soon as there is any indication of reopening dates, by emailing members and posting on social media channels and here on our website.

MEMBERSHIPS

If you have a pre-paid membership, your membership will be frozen. This essentially means that you will not be charged for the period we are closed.

If you would like to support TCA and continue to pay for membership during November, please send an “Unfreeze my membership” request via My TCA.

ANY QUESTIONS?

If you have any specific questions about your membership or if you would like to change your details, please contact us via My TCA.

COURSES

If you have booked a course that is due to happen in November and December, we will be issuing refunds. You will be contacted directly about this. You may also email The Mothership and The Church.

STAY STRONG

For many of you, we know that climbing has provided a lifeline for both physical and mental health. Although hopefully not as long as the last lockdown, this one will have much less light as winter takes hold. We would encourage our community to make an effort to stay active during this time. Whether you are bouldering outside (exercise is allowed!), going for walks or runs, or focussing on home training – movement is good and will help you see this through.

home training

If 2020 gave us anything it’s plenty of home training advice online. Here are some home training ideas we gathered earlier in the year. If you would like to work on climbing fitness, we have a number of items in the TCA shop that may help. You can pick up fingerboards in person from the shop in The Mothership (while stocks last), while smaller items like resistance bands and powerfingers can be ordered online from the TCA shop. All purchases help TCA during this period of enforced closure.

Climbing gift vouchers

If you were planning to buy TCA gift vouchers as Christmas presents, these can be redeemed on entry, courses and cafe purchases when we reopen. The online shop will continue to operate for as long as Glasgow centres are still open, so TCA online shop purchases will still be possible. Buying gift vouchers in November will help TCA during closure.
