Movement and technique
We hold a range of drop in coaching sessions and bookable movement and technique sessions so if you'd like to improve your climbing there is something for everyone!
Movement and Technique
The art of effortless climbing is something to which we all aspire. With our three part Movement and Technique sessions, our experienced coaches will show you ways in which to position your body enabling you to climb with the minimum of effort, taking weight from your arms and distributing it to your feet.
Our Movement and Techniques class is 3 X 60 minute sessions spread over 3 weeks (or a crash course over 4 hours). They are aimed at new, inexperienced or un-coached climbers and this is the single easiest way to improve technique in a very short space of time – probably the best 180 minutes you will ever invest in your climbing. This knowledge is essential for the development of both boulderers and roped-climbers alike. We keep the maximum group size to 6 so that everyone gets the most learning time out of the session.
In the first we cover footwork, body positioning and twistlocking. The second session goes into different holds, heel and toe locking, rockovers, flagging and body tension. The third session covers dynamic movement, route reading, training basics, spotting and complementary activities.
These are great social sessions and allow you to meet and socialise with other climbers and work with the coach to help you work on particular climbing problems or give general coaching advice.
In TCA Bristol they run every other Friday from 7-8pm, please book in advance.
In TCA Glasgow they run every Tuesday from 7.30-8.30pm and work on a drop in basis.
Women's Climbing Club
Another really great social environment for female climbers - In Bristol this session is held alternative weeks at TCA and UCR from 6:30-8:30pm and is suitable for any ability of climber.
In Glasgow the Women's Climbing Club meets on the last Wednesday of every month.
