Annual BMC Avon Gorge Clearance Day

By The Climbing Academy

On Sunday 18th Feb from 10am, BMC are hosting their annual clearance day.

Every year hardy volunteers venture out on a cold February day to clear invasive vegetation from the Avon Gorge Main Area. If we let nature take its course, not only would it become very hard to access some to the Gorge’s wonderful routes, but also some rare plant and tree species would squeezed out altogether.

So under the guidance of top botanist Libby Houston, we will clear away invasive plants such as brambles and ivy. Its great fun, and its WIN-WIN for Conservation and Climbing!

Head to the BMC’s Facebook event to find out more and make sure you invite your friends:

Refreshments and some tools will be provided.

Bring: Stout gloves, sturdy footwear, robust trousers (and some secateurs if you have them).
