School Bouldering Sessions
TCA run instructed sessions for school pupils of all ages and abilities. Unlike traditional climbing walls, bouldering walls are not constrained by ropes and essential belaying techniques. By removing this need for special safety techniques and equipment, pupils have more time to explore their new environment and instructors have the freedom to coach individuals rather than supervise a group.
Cost: £27.50 (1hr) + £3.75-£5.25 pp.
Max group size: 10 pupils per instructor.

School Bouldering Courses
TCA is fully aware of the many different time constraints that schools face when organising 'learning outside the classroom'. We, therefore, cater courses to suit the needs of individual schools and their pupils. Whether your pupils need a break from exams and course work or an end of term treat, we develop and run courses that will involve and inspire your pupils.
Course example 1: 6 week course aimed at 14-16yrs wanting to gain TCA youth membership award. For one hour a week, for a 6 week block, your pupils will receive coaching from one of our qualified and experienced instructors. On successful completion candidates will receive TCA youth membership allowing them to use the wall without the need for an instructor.**
Course example 2: Please read the Boulder Club section for more information. You can book courses in blocks and the kids can work through the Bouldering Awards, receiving certificates on completion.
Cost: £390 Group size: Up to 8 pupils

Free* induction sessions for school teachers
TCA is offering free induction sessions to all school teaching staff. TCA Schools Bouldering League 2012

This year's bouldering league was a great success, with over 80 school children competing and Bristol Grammar School, Redland High and Bristol Cathedral school being crowned league winners.
A big thanks go to this year's sponsors, DMM, Ellis Brigham, Beta Climbing Designs, Climbing Wall Solutions and Scarpa, but especially to Chris Rowlands from DMM, for making the journey from Llanberis for the prize-giving.
The league will return in October 2012!
The TCA Schools Bouldering League is open to all schools in the South-West. Schools can enter junior and senior single sex teams of 3. The league consists of 4, 1.5hr rounds with 15 climbs in each round. The rounds are held at the end of terms 1-4, see dates above. The 1.5hr session can be completed anytime between 1pm and 7pm, apart from the final round when all teams must compete between 5-7pm due to the prize giving ceremony.
Points are awarded for each climb attempted, the winning teams are decided by the best results from 3 of the 4 rounds. This allows schools to miss a round without fore fitting their position in the league.
Schools can choose to field both individuals and/or teams of 3, with a maximum of 2 teams per category. As there is no safety techniques or equipment involved, previous bouldering experience isn't required.
Competitions have become a common part of bouldering and are a great way to meet new people and to test newly gained skills against other boulderers. Prizes provided by our sponsors are awarded to the winning teams in each category, and each individual winner in each category.
